Letter from the CEO

At a time of rapid change, the transition to clean, affordable and accessible energy is more urgent than ever. At IREC, Catalonia’s centre of excellence in energy with an international outlook, we combine research, innovation and demonstration to develop solutions that support climate neutrality through a fair and inclusive transition.

This progress is driven by a highly skilled team and a strong network of collaborations with universities, companies, public administrations and society. We work to strengthen the integration of renewable energy, improve efficiency across the system, and help end uses such as mobility, buildings and industry move towards more electrified, sustainable options, reducing dependence on fossil fuels and accelerating decarbonisation. 

From advanced materials and batteries to hydrogen, synthetic fuels, grids and energy communities, we connect scientific excellence with technology transfer and pilot projects that help bring innovation closer to real-world deployment. We also strengthen modelling and forward-looking analysis to inform decisions and investment with rigour and transparency.
