“Gara OpenLAB” is an educational project of innovative scientific dissemination on energy promoted by IREC aimed at primary, secondary, special education and non-specialized public.
The new resources are designed to stimulate citizen participation in science and technology, with a highly relevant theme: energy sustainability. We want to show current energy solutions thanks to the work carried out by IREC’s different lines of research. To do this, we have the support of Eduxarxa and professors specialized in didactics of experimental sciences from the University of Barcelona.
Gara is an educational project that has been going on for several years and, in this new edition, it introduces substantial improvements and innovative additions in content and formats with the aim of expanding the scope of the resources already generated.
In this edition, we seek to complete the development of content aimed at encouraging citizen participation by creating 4 suitcases intended for loan to interested centers. These suitcases will contain practical and dynamic experiments that use the game as a learning tool. Thanks to the suitcases, the participating students will be able to relate, for example, thermal comfort and air quality in the classrooms of their school center, or assemble a battery with homemade elements such as a lemon.
These suitcases will be complemented with 3 user manuals intended for the school teachers: one for secondary education, another for primary education and another for special education, with didactic sheets specially adapted to each educational level.
