Advancing Open Science at IREC

IREC has been able to improve its research data management systems deploy its Open Science strategy thanks to the María de Guzmán (MdG) funding from FECYT.

In the last years, IREC has started the deployment of an Open Science strategy, including the implementation of new tools and methodologies, in order to facilitate society’s access to its scientific production and comply with the mandates of the funding bodies. In the framework of the María de Guzmán project, IREC has strengthened the technological capacity, quality, and interoperability of the management systems of its digital structures devoted to dissemination, storage, preservation, and management of research results and necessary for open science purposes. The activities carried out within MdG23 also have allowed interconnection of the different digital structures required to ensure optimal management of research data, scientific production, and curricular information, facilitating a higher quality and more transparent results dissemination.

The MdG23 project has been a key element in IREC’s Open Science strategy implementation, reinforcing our commitment to quality and transparency in scientific production and research data timely dissemination and optimal management, and has allowed the consolidation of the research data management position as a structural element within the institution.

IREC’s scientific production is accessible to society in its Zenodo community.

This project has been led by Marta Fonrodona, the Corporate Development and Technology Transfer Director at IREC, with the participation of Kàtia Martínez, Sabina Batlle and Sergi Gilabert as research data managers to implement the Open Science strategy at the institute.
