IREC has been awarded a Joan Oró grant (FI-2025)

The Catalan Agency for Management of University and Research Grants (AGAUR) has awarded Joan Oró grants to hire research staff in training (FI 2025) to researchers at IREC. These grants are aimed at supporting the recruitment of predoctoral research staff and will fund each recipient for a duration of three years.

The Joan Oró FI fellowships are intended for individuals pursuing a PhD at a Catalan university, reinforcing IREC’s ongoing commitment to cutting-edge energy research and the training of new scientific talent within the region.

Sergio Ramos, belonging to the Battery Materials group at the institute, will develop a PhD thesis entitled “Development of new solid-state batteries based on Li & Na ion materials for sustainable and cost competitive (next generation) storage technologies”. Sergio will be supervised by Jordi Jacas and Elías Martínez, and he will participate in the Engineering and Applied Sciences doctoral program at the University of Barcelona, starting this autumn.
