IREC launches the Gara-MOVES project to fight fake news about the energy transition
IREC has launched the fourth edition of the project series “Gara”, called “Gara-MOVES. MÓdulos Viajeros sobre Energía y Sostenibilidad”, an innovative initiative that promotes inclusive, mobile, and transformative scientific outreach.
With a strong commitment to fighting misinformation and fake news about the energy transition and climate change, Gara-MOVES introduces a mobile educational laboratory that brings the latest scientific knowledge directly to schools, rural communities, and other groups. The initiative engages a wide audience—from primary and secondary school students to those in special education—as well as sectors of society that often remain outside the scientific conversation. The project is led by Anna Magrasó from the Corporate Development and Technology Transfer area at IREC.
This lab on wheels transforms the institute’s scientists into the “ambassadors of the modern age”, capable of communicating key topics related to renewable energy and sustainability with both scientific rigor and approachability.
The new edition of the project is structured in several phases, aiming to consolidate the resources developed in previous editions and to go a step further with a flexible and mobile format. This strategy allows the project to maximize its social impact, break down educational and territorial barriers, and promote a more informed and critical society in the face of today’s and tomorrow’s energy challenges.
Through this initiative, IREC reinforces its commitment to a form of outreach that not only shares knowledge, but also inspires, connects, and empowers new generations and society on the path towards a just, sustainable, and inclusive energy transition.
