The KoM of FUSIONCAT was held on January the 29th, 2020, at the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre (BSC) in Barcelona). FUSIONCAT is a project initiative that gathers the active groups on nuclear fusion energy in Catalonia.

The goal is to obtain sustainable, safe and low carbon emitting energy sources, while ensuring it is predictable and reliable. In the long term, the ultimate goal is to pave the way to the construction and start-up of a nuclear fusion power plant in Catalonia.

The consortium will establish knowledge transfer to the industry to develop industrial competences in Catalonia. The consortium is coordinated by BSC and the partners are IREC, UPC, IQA, ICMAB-CSIC, EURECAT and BTEC.

The role of IREC in this project is to boost knowledge and experience for the design of high tech components for fusion materials qualification facilities.

The project is co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development fund (ERDF) Operational Programme Catalonia 2014-2020 and supported by the Government of Catalonia.
